SUMMARY

I’m a strategic, creative writer and conceptual brand builder—I love telling stories that help people connect with a brand on a human level. I have over 12 years of agency, in-house, and freelance experience. In that time, I’ve crafted copy for commercial scripts, print and digital ads, OOH, packaging, naming, manifestos, emails, landing pages, and more. Over the years, my creative chops evolved to include content strategy, creative oversight, and experiential events.

EXPERIENCE

Associate Creative Director

Okta  |  June 2022 – Present  |  Remote - Los Angeles, CA

  • In 2022 (after 10+ years in business), Okta assembled its first in-house Creative team, which was a novel opportunity for me to help build a brand from scratch.

  • For the first 1.5 years, I was on the Campaigns team. We launched Okta’s first brand campaign, with a global rollout, that included a plethora of ad placements and various markets to consider: digital and static billboards, bus shelters, digital display, trucks, taxi toppers, TV, Spotify, train stations, airport bag carousels, as well as signage around HQ. 

  • Switched to the Events & Experiences team to dig deeper into experiential work. In this role, I tie a cohesive messaging thread through all of our events (including third party), most notably, our tentpole identity event, Oktane, which takes place annually in Las Vegas. Deliverables include: an overarching event theme, signage, promotional copy, OOH ads around the event (on the Strip) and within the airport—to blow it out on social, we partner with Corporate Natalie.

  • Mentor more junior writers, and host a weekly writers sync to help break information silos. 

  • Create and refresh style guides and toolkits for other employees and agencies to leverage.

Lead Copywriter & Creative Content Strategist

Lyft  |  June 2019 – May 2022  |  San Francisco, CA

  • As a lead on Lyft’s in-house Creative team, I wrote and oversaw brand copy, and also developed the creative content strategy for both the rider (B2C) and driver (B2B) audiences. I managed a huge array of cross-functional projects driven by various teams—from Brand and Growth to Product Marketing and Lyft Business (enterprise). 

  • Projects and campaigns included any number of the following deliverables: video scripts, out-of-home, product naming, infographics, landing pages, packaging, emails, push, and in-app notifications and banners.

  • Held weekly copy office hours, and hosted a biweekly lunch & learn session with the larger Marketing team, to share and discuss new creative work from other brands.

  • Reviewed creative briefs from XFN teams, managed more junior writers (including contractors), also oversaw external agency work.

  • Won Lyft’s quarterly employee award—a first (as far as anyone could remember) for someone from creative/marketing.

Senior Brand Copywriter 

OpenTable  |  July 2017 – April 2019  |  San Francisco, CA

  • Sole brand writer dedicated to both sides of the business, I worked on a variety of deliverables with different goals:

    • Diners (B2C): Own the creative strategy, conceptualization, and copywriting—for all creative campaigns, online ads, push copy, scripts for social videos, and high-visibility emails—to drive app adoption and reservations. 

    • Restaurants (B2B): Craft copy—for restaurant marketing website, product/feature naming, event swag and signage, and pitch decks—with the goal of humanizing and democratizing the brand.

  • Wrote original content for food crawls and restaurant recommendation lists living on OpenTable’s city start pages.

  • Created a refreshed brand book with a new manifesto, voice & tone guidelines, and messaging themes

Lead Copywriter

Golden State Warriors  |  Oct 2015 – July 2017  |  Oakland, CA

  • I refreshed and maintained the Warriors’ voice across various channels: live broadcast reads for games, commercial scripts, print ads, social and email copy, naming for Warriors merchandise and elements of the Chase Center. 

  • Brainstormed giveaways, promotions, and community initiatives. 

  • Helped create new brand guidelines.

Copywriter & Content Strategist (Freelance)

  • Came up with the name for the app and wrote the corresponding tagline.

  • Crafted all of the copy for the B2C website, and then did a complete overhaul when their focus pivoted to B2B.

Copywriter

  • Brands: PayPal, Sunkist, Adobe, Appleton, Ghirardelli, and Juniper Networks

  • I did high-level concepting, tactical program ideation, and copywriting for a wide range of creative campaigns and social content to increase and enhance brand engagement. Also presented and sold-in creative ideas.

  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams: account, production, PR, strategy, planning, and analytics.
